Qasim Naqvi shares new single ‘Power Down the Heart’ feat. Moor Mother

15.5   2025 Single

Pakistani-American composer Qasim Naqvi shares 'Power Down the Heart' — the latest single from his forthcoming album Endling, out May 30. Featuring a vocal performance from poet and musician Moor Mother, it’s the record’s emotional centre: a slow, unravelling electronic piece in which the album’s protagonist - the Endling, the last human on Earth - encounters a dying A.I., reflecting on the beauty, sadness and horror it has witnessed over centuries. Moor Mother’s voice, processed through the idiosyncratic Buchla 296t Spectral Processor, flickers between machine and memory — a synthetic voice letting go of its humanness as it shuts down for good.

"I wanted the music to feel like the inside of this being’s mind. I shared the story and music with Camae, and she came back with the perfect contribution. Using a Buchla 296t Spectral Processor, I shaped her voice into something both synthetic and fragile — a machine shedding its humanness as it powers down.” — Qasim Naqvi
