American singer-songwriter David Allred has shared a new recording of ‘Hey Stranger’, featuring himself alone on the piano and his deeply emotive vocals, entitled ‘Hey Stranger (Take 2)’. The heartbreaking lyrics tell us the story of Allred’s friend who disappeared over a decade ago, and the emotions that he’s been left with since.

We’re excited to introduce our newest signee Sheherazaad, who joins our collective of artists with her first single and accompanying video ‘Mashoor’ – produced by Arooj Aftab. Ahead of their UK tour commencing next month, Penguin Cafe have shared their rendition of ‘Perpetuum Mobile’ — one of Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s most beloved songs, recorded with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestral version was arranged by the legendary British conductor and musical director Guy Protheroe.

Esteemed musician and composer Peter Broderick today shares a true gem: a previously unreleased track from the legendary musical treasure troves of Arthur Russell entitled ‘Give It to the Sky’ and performed with the French 12-piece group, Ensemble 0.

‘Facta est deserta’ is the new single from Shards, the London-based vocal group led by singer and composer Kieran Brunt. Commissioned by Elizabeth Alker for her BBC Radio 3 programme Unclassified, the song was made for the station’s 400th anniversary celebration of Renaissance composer William Byrd.

This autumn, Erased Tapes are set to release Give It to the Sky: Arthur Russell’s Tower of Meaning Expanded by composer and producer Peter Broderick and French 12-piece group Ensemble 0; a complete re-recording of Russell’s epic minimalist orchestral composition originally released in 1983.

Icelandic composer Högni’s score for the much-acclaimed Netflix series Katla will finally see its full release on July 28. The score was recorded with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daníel Bjarnason at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík.

Today, Penguin Cafe announce their fifth studio album, Rain Before Seven… due for release on July 7. They also share the video and single ‘In Re Budd’. A sense of optimism infuses Rain Before Seven… not the braggadocious, overconfident kind, but more a blithe, self-effacing optimism in keeping with the national character. Even when all signs point to the contrary, it operates within the certainty that things are going to be alright. Probably.

We are enthralled to share the 10th Anniversary Special Edition of Lubomyr Melnyk’s first album for Erased Tapes, Corollaries. Recorded 2012 in Berlin with Peter Broderick at the producer’s helm, and released in April 2013, it brought Melnyk’s lifelong dedication to the piano to new audiences.

As part of our Piano Day 2023 celebrations, we’re pleased to present ‘Second Variety’ — the new single by Arthur Jeffes’ cult contemporary-minimal-folk troupe, Penguin Cafe.

Recorded at Arcadia West, Los Angeles, the American avant-garde composer William Basinski crafted an eerie piano rework of Japanese voice artist Hatis Noit’s piece ‘Inori’, taken from her acclaimed debut Aura ahead of Piano Day 2023.

Following on from the piano-led closing track of his recent studio album Now Is, Ryan Lee West aka Rival Consoles shares new piece ‘Spirit Loop’ ahead of Piano Day 2023.

Bell Orchestre share two versions of their piece ‘Water / Light / Shifts’ — the original studio version taken from the forthcoming reissue of As Seen Through Windows, and a spellbinding remix courtesy of fellow Canadian electronic producer Tim Hecker.

Bell Orchestre share another unheard gem, ‘Quintet’, featuring long-time friend and collaborator Colin Stetson on bass saxophone.

Following the reissue of Recording a Tape the Colour of the Light in December, Erased Tapes are thrilled to announce the reissue of the band’s second album As Seen Through Windows out on April 28 — including a digital Special Edition version featuring three previously unreleased bonus tracks, all featuring saxophonist and friend of the band, Colin Stetson.
